Kitchen design elements you can't do without

Kitchen designs can be complicated, I know. So many choices in finishes and appliances, and let’s not forget about the cabinets and layout. This is why I walk through kitchen designs with clients and guide them to make choices that are functional and stylish. Here are a couple simple tips to make the most of your kitchen.

Invest in an apron-front sink
Most people think farmhouse style when I talk about an apron-front sink. But I like to recommend them as they provide so much room when it comes to doing dishes, especially during the holidays. They can also break up the look of wall to wall cabinets.

Dedicate a wall to a family chalkboard area
Kitchens can really benefit from an accent wall, but have you thought about creating a chalkboard wall. These days with busy lifestyles, a chalkboard wall can be a place to keep important reminders as well as allow the children of the home a creative outlet. Many paint companies are offering chalkboard paint in their selection and in a variety of colors.

Create a cozy eating area
Luxury homes offer a little more space in what can be done in a kitchen, but creating some sort of eating area can really provide family connection. Creating a small eating nook or a built-in banquette within a kitchen island can really make the kitchen the heart of the home.
